Igor Stravinsky’s arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner is to me the most original and most moving. I don’t know why we don’t hear it more often.
That was rousing. Very good.
I’m always intrigued to learn that our great composers did things I didn’t know they did — simply never would have associated with them. I only recently discovered Rachmaninoff’s liturgies. They’re almost unearthly in their beauty.
